Overview

The SkyLands world consists of 9 playable locations organized into 4 accessibility tiers. Unlike a simple hub-and-spoke system, locations require multi-hop journeys to reach remote areas, creating meaningful travel decisions and progression.

Description: A bustling trading hub where sky-ships dock and merchants hawk their wares. Hope lingers here, though weary.

Description: Windswept cliffs north of Skyport Eos. Ancient stone ruins dot the landscape, and the sound of the wind echoes through ravines.

🌾 Windmere Farms (Tier 2: Regional)

Type: Settlement (Minor) | Danger: 0.05 | Atmosphere: Pastoral & Peaceful

Description: A peaceful agricultural settlement where terraced fields produce food for the Aetherium. Simple, honest folk work the land under open skies.

Description: A neutral waystation at the intersection of five major Aether-Currents. Every journey passes through here.

🏰 Ironhold (Tier 2: Regional)

Type: Settlement (Large) | Danger: 0.0 | Atmosphere: Militaristic & Orderly

Description: A fortress-city of stone and iron. The largest stable island in the Aetherium, ruled by military discipline and merchant pragmatism.

✨ Glimmering Spire (Tier 3: Remote)

Type: Settlement (Minor) | Danger: 0.25 | Atmosphere: Mysterious & Corrupted

Description: A crumbling pre-Shattering observatory. The crystal Spire catches constellation-light while Sky-Rot creeps through ancient ruins below.

🌑 Murky Chasm (Tier 3: Remote)

Type: Settlement (Minor) | Danger: 0.35 | Atmosphere: Dangerous & Lawless

Description: A lawless settlement suspended between two drifting fragments. Rope bridges span the void where criminals, exiles, and Rot-Touched gather beyond civilization’s reach.

Services: - 🍺 The Abyss Bar - A tavern hanging over the void. Information flows freely here—for a price - 🛒 Black Market Plaza - Anything can be bought here. No questions asked - ⚠️ Rot-Touched Enclave - The corrupted gather in the Deep Tangle. Approach with caution - 🏴 Vex’s Territory - The Black Sky Cartel’s headquarters. Enter only if invited - 🌿 Hanging Gardens - Corrupted flora thrives in terraced gardens on the cliff face

💀 The Hollow (Tier 4: Extreme)

Type: Ruins (Major) | Danger: 0.75 | Atmosphere: Corrupted & Horrifying

Description: The fallen city of Luminara, now fully consumed by corruption. A nightmare made manifest.

Services: - 🔍 The Approach - Survey the corrupted city from the outer edge - 📚 Twisted Archives - Search the corrupted Scholar’s Plateau (DANGEROUS, requires Cunning 30) - 🌳 Screaming Orchards - Enter the corrupted Garden Terraces (EXTREME DANGER, requires Endurance 35) - 🔥 Forges of Flesh - Brave the corrupted Artisan’s Quarter (EXTREME DANGER, requires Strength 35) - 💀 Throne of Hollows - Face the heart of corruption at the city center (BOSS, requires Strength 40 & Endurance 40) - ⛺ Emergency Camp - Rest at a makeshift camp on the outer edge

⚠️ WARNING: The Hollow is an endgame location with extreme danger. Ensure your character is well-prepared before attempting the journey.


🏕️ Scavenger’s Roost (Tier 4: Extreme)

Type: Settlement (Small) | Danger: 0.45 | Atmosphere: Frontier & Dangerous

Description: A rough frontier outpost at the edge of the known Aetherium. Last stop before the Periphery.

Services: - 🛒 Vorna’s Trading Post - Buy salvaged artifacts and frontier supplies - ⛺ The Bunkhouse - Rough lodging for salvagers and explorers - 🪦 Memorial Wall - Hundreds of names carved by those who never returned - 📜 Expedition Preparation - Prepare for dangerous salvage runs into the Periphery (requires Endurance 25) - 🌅 The Edge Overlook - Stare into the darkness beyond the known world - 🔧 Salvage Yard - Examine recovered artifacts from the Periphery

⚠️ WARNING: Scavenger’s Roost is at the edge of the known world. The journey is long and dangerous, and the Periphery beyond is even more treacherous.


Travel Strategy Guide

Early Game (Character Level 1-10)

Focus: Explore Tier 1-2 locations - Stay within Skyport Eos, Northern Cliffs, Windmere Farms, The Crossroads, and Ironhold - Build stamina and skills before venturing to remote locations - Use The Crossroads as a waypoint for efficient travel

Mid Game (Character Level 11-25)

Focus: Venture to Tier 3 locations - Journey to Glimmering Spire and Murky Chasm - Prepare for longer multi-hop journeys (30-40 stamina total) - Upgrade endurance to handle increased travel costs - Stock up on supplies at The Crossroads before remote expeditions

Late Game (Character Level 26+)

Focus: Unlock Tier 4 extreme locations - Attempt the journey to The Hollow or Scavenger’s Roost - Ensure 60+ stamina capacity for round trips - Bring healing items and corruption resistance - Consider The Hollow for endgame boss fights - Visit Scavenger’s Roost for unique frontier content

Stamina Management Tips

Efficient Route Planning

  1. Identify your destination and its tier
  2. Check the travel routes table for all connections
  3. Calculate total stamina cost for multi-hop journeys
  4. Identify rest stops along the way (The Crossroads, Glimmering Spire)
  5. Ensure you have enough stamina for the round trip
  6. Stock up on supplies before departing

Special Notes

The Deeps (Not a Playable Location)

The Deeps is a region in the lore, not a visitable location. It represents the cosmic horror zone below the inhabited areas where expeditions go and never return. It’s referenced in quests (like “The Deep Hunter”) and world lore, but is not meant to be directly accessible as a playable location.

Remote Location Accessibility

Some locations are intentionally difficult to reach: - The Hollow requires passing through 3 other locations (60+ stamina one-way) - Scavenger’s Roost requires passing through 3 other locations (55+ stamina one-way) - This creates meaningful progression: “I can finally afford the journey to The Hollow

One-Way Difficulty

Note that return journeys cost the same stamina as outbound journeys. Plan accordingly: - A trip to The Hollow and back requires 120 stamina total - A trip to Scavenger’s Roost and back requires 110 stamina total - Always ensure you can afford the return journey
