Overview

The Lighthouse Keeper is a quest about preserving pre-Shattering technology and understanding Astral Geometry. The ancient Lighthouse at Skyport Eos has glowed continuously for 287 years without fuel or power source—but now it’s slowly dimming.

Scholar Theron has discovered that the Lighthouse is a pre-Shattering Astral Geometry device, and he needs help investigating why it’s failing.

Quest Stages

Stage 1: The Mystery

Trigger: Visit the Lighthouse at Skyport Eos
Objective: Investigate the mysterious Lighthouse that still glows after 287 years

Scholar Theron approaches with exciting—and troubling—news. He’s discovered that the Lighthouse isn’t just a beacon; it’s a pre-Shattering Astral Geometry device. But the light is dimming. In perhaps ten years, it will go dark entirely.

Choices: - Help investigate (Piety DC 18): Agree to explore the tower’s interior - Refuse: The Lighthouse is restricted for a reason

On Success: Gain Lighthouse permit and Astral Geometry primer
On Failure: Gain permit but lack understanding of the technology

Stage 2: Investigation

Objective: Explore the Lighthouse interior and discover its secrets

The interior is breathtaking—walls covered in glowing geometric patterns that shift and pulse. At the center: a crystalline core suspended in mid-air, humming with power.

Theron explains: the Lighthouse draws power from the Aether itself, from the fabric of space. But the Shattering damaged it. Cracks in the crystal have been slowly failing for 287 years.

The Solution: The Lighthouse needs a power source to repair itself—an Aether-Heart or something similar.

Choices:

Option 1: Provide an Aether-Heart

Requirements: Must have an Aether-Heart (from The Deep Hunter quest)

Install the Aether-Heart into the Lighthouse core. The cracks seal. The light blazes brighter than it has in centuries.

Rewards: - 13 XP - 300 Aether-Coins - Lighthouse Core Fragment - Astral Geometry Knowledge - +40 Clergy reputation - +30 Sky-Guild reputation - Legendary Deed flag - Quest Complete

Option 2: Study the Astral Geometry

Skill Check: Cunning DC 26

Spend days studying the geometric patterns, learning the language of reality itself. Discover a way to stabilize the core without a full Aether-Heart—using smaller power sources in a specific pattern.

On Success: - 11 XP - 200 Aether-Coins - Astral Geometry Mastery - Reality Manipulation Knowledge - +30 Clergy reputation - Geometry Master flag - Quest Complete (Lighthouse stabilized for 50+ years)

On Failure: - 3 XP - 100 Aether-Coins - Basic Astral Geometry Primer - Lighthouse continues to dim - Quest Complete (but Lighthouse not saved)

Option 3: Leave It

Accept that the Lighthouse has lasted 287 years and can last longer. Don’t interfere with what you don’t understand.

Rewards: - 50 Aether-Coins - -15 Clergy reputation - Lighthouse Abandoned flag - Quest Complete (Lighthouse continues to dim)

Strategic Considerations

Optimal Path: Aether-Heart Solution

The best outcome requires completing The Deep Hunter boss quest first to obtain an Aether-Heart. This: - Permanently restores the Lighthouse (1000+ years) - Provides the best rewards - Grants maximum reputation gains - Unlocks the Legendary Deed achievement

Alternative Path: Astral Geometry Study

If you don’t have an Aether-Heart (or want to keep it for other purposes): - Requires high Cunning (DC 26) - Provides 50+ years of stability (good enough for your lifetime) - Grants unique Astral Geometry knowledge - Less reputation gain but still positive outcome

Budget Path: Leave It

Minimal rewards, negative reputation, but no resource investment required.
