Ironwood Treant - The Walking Grove Ironwood Treant - The Walking Grove

Description

Ironwood treants are corrupted trees animated by the Rot. Unlike most corrupted creatures, they retain much of their original form—they’re still recognizably trees, just mobile and hostile. They pull their roots from the earth and walk on root-legs, use branches as arms, and defend their territories with crushing strength.

The creatures are slow—painfully slow compared to other threats. But what they lack in speed they make up for in power and durability. Their ironwood bodies are incredibly tough, their root attacks can immobilize prey, and their crushing branch slams can break bone and armor. Fighting a treant is like fighting a mobile fortress.

Cultural Impact

Treants represent corruption’s ability to animate even plants. Farmers fear them because they can appear in any old forest. Some believe they’re the spirits of ancient trees given form by corruption. Others think they’re the Rot’s attempt to create plant-based guardians.

There’s debate about whether killing them is right—they were once noble trees. But when they’re crushing people, philosophy takes a back seat to survival.

“Ironwood treants prove that corruption doesn’t discriminate—it takes everything, even trees. They’re slow, but they’re unstoppable once they start moving. And they hit like a falling building. Use fire, use axes, and don’t let them grab you. Those roots will hold you while they crush you. Slowly.”
