Commander Valen - The
Returner Zealot
Overview
Commander Valen leads the the Returners’ fleet from a hidden platform near the Black Tempest. He believes the Shattering can be reversed, and he is using Storm-Captain Kiera Windcaller’s anonymous ship designs to reach the places that might do it. He recruits with the promise that everyone the Strider has lost can be brought back, and he means it.
He returns when the Luminar Device comes back from the Periphery: the Returners want it as badly as the Guild and the Clergy.
Appearance
Mid-forties, lean, close-cropped dark hair greying at the temples, short beard. A dark teal naval coat with brass fittings and a silver pin of a broken ring made whole.
