Aether-Jellyfish
Medusa aetherii / “Sky Jellies” / “Lightning Floaters”
“Beautiful and deadly. They drift through the aether like living
lanterns. Touch one and you’ll understand why we call them lightning
floaters.”

Aether-Jellyfish - Sky
Jellies
Description
Aether-jellyfish are one of the few creatures perfectly adapted to life in the void. They drift on aether currents like living lanterns, their translucent bodies glowing with bioluminescence. They’re beautiful—mesmerizing, even—which makes them dangerous. Pilots who get too close to admire them often learn the hard way that those graceful tentacles carry powerful electric charges.
The jellyfish are passive creatures. They don’t hunt, don’t attack, and seem content to drift through the void absorbing… something. Aether-energy, perhaps, or microscopic organisms too small to see. But touch one—or fly through a swarm—and they discharge electricity defensively. The shock can stun, disable ship systems, or kill if the jellyfish is large enough.
Abilities
Attacks
Tentacle Sting: Electric shock on contact Electric Discharge: Releases stored charge (area effect) Chain Lightning (Strong): Electricity arcs between targets Aether Pulse (Strong): Disorienting energy wave
Defenses
Translucent: Difficult to see clearly Floating: No solid form to strike Passive: Doesn’t provoke unless touched Swarm: Safety in numbers
Weaknesses
Fragile: Low HP, easily killed Predictable: Drifts with currents Avoidable: Can be navigated around
Loot
Luminescent Membrane: Light sources, crafting Aether Cell: Energy storage Charged Aether Cell (Strong): Advanced energy Pristine Aether Core (Strong): Rare, valuable
Behavior
Aether-jellyfish are environmental hazards more than enemies. They drift in swarms along major aether currents, creating beautiful but dangerous obstacles for airships. Experienced pilots know the routes where jellies congregate and either avoid them or navigate carefully.
Some settlements harvest jellies for their membranes and aether cells, but it’s dangerous work. The creatures are fragile, but their electric discharge can be lethal.

“Aether-jellyfish are proof that beauty and danger aren’t
mutually exclusive. They’re gorgeous—like living stained glass drifting
through the void. But touch one and you’ll get shocked hard enough to
stop your heart. Admire from a distance. Navigate carefully. And if you
must harvest them, wear insulated gloves.”
